Of course, her path to her current status as one of the best radiologists anywhere was a long one and it wasn’t always a straight line. You see, her decision to become a doctor wasn’t a calling she received as a teen. In fact, in 1969, Gail Weingast graduated Tufts University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish she obtained at that school’s Jackson College.
The medical school bug apparently hit her soon after, however, as she attended Boston University School of Medicine and officially became Dr. Gail Weingast M.D. in 1976. Of course, that wasn’t all of her schooling. She went to Denver, Colorado, where Dr. Gail Weingast completed a pediatrics internship, a pediatric residency, a radiology residency, and a fellowship in the field of ultrasound, all between 1976 and 1983 under the guidance of doctors at Colorado General Hospital. At St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver, Dr. Gail Weingast completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist in 1984.
Most people who know Dr. Gail Weingast regard her as one of the best in the radiology field. She is best known as a highly regarded radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. Currently she serves as their Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging, but there is a lot more to her than that. In fact, during her 20-year-stint at Backus, she has guided their radiology department to its current status as one of the premiere such facilities in the region, the country and the world. Before landing at Backus Hospital, Dr. Gail Weingast worked at several other hospitals, mostly in Colorado, but also in New York, before she finally found herself at Backus Hospital, where she has since become something of a legend as a radiology specialist. In all, Dr. Gail Weingast has more than 40 years’ experience and has been able to help a lot of people in that time.
