Dr. Gail Weingast‘s trajectory into the field of medicine wasn’t predetermined from the outset. Initially, her career path wasn’t set in stone, and the prospect of becoming a doctor wasn’t immediately apparent. Nonetheless, upon entering medical school and earning her title as Dr. Gail Weingast, she poured her dedication into her profession.
Following medical school, Dr. Weingast embarked on a journey that included a pediatrics internship and residency at Colorado General Hospital in Denver. Subsequently, she pursued a three-year radiology residency and a fellowship specializing in ultrasound technology. These endeavors were undertaken primarily at Colorado General Hospital, with post-graduate studies in radiology at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also located in Denver, around 1984.
Her career led her to practice medicine across various hospitals in Colorado before transitioning to New York for a period. Eventually, she settled into her current role. For over two decades, Dr. Gail Weingast has been a respected figure in the field of radiology, serving as the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut.
Under her leadership, the radiology department at William W. Backus Hospital has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as one of the foremost radiology departments nationally and possibly even internationally.
